Project 2, 2010

‘This was a group project in creating a ’70s’ movie poster. We decided on a title called ‘The Attack of the Crumpets’. I took on role on designing the font for the movie title.’

I personally thought it was a bit of a lame project. I enjoyed thinking of the story with my coursemates. But the actually creative side wasn’t very exciting.

Project 1, 2010’

‘For this project we got given two random images, our brief was to create 10 illustrations that will connect the two images we got given. So basically, like a story…from one image to the other. (Does that makes sense?)’

I found this project a bit challenging at first, as i had never done anything like this before. But in the end i found it quite fun…

Summer Project: Part II, 2010

‘Shoe Box Museum’ with ‘Museum Brochure’

I found this part of the project very ironic…as i just transferred from an Interior Design course and now they’ve asked us to create a ‘museum’. I think, i just took the brief more literal than some other people. But it’s alright. I found it very fun and was able to use what i had learned from previous course to help with this project. :) I realised though after i had finished it, that…i really took it too literal! ‘All about me’… if someone was to actually look thoroughly into my museum then they would know a large aspects about me…haha.

Summer Project: Part I, 2010

Acrylic on Canvas

The brief was to create two pieces of work:

1. to pick a day and record events and things that happened that day, and from that create a piece of artwork.

2. create a ‘museum’ about yourself…and include a book describing what’s in the so called ‘museum’.

I enjoyed creating this piece of work, it was very chilled out. It kinda showed what a random (crazy/odd) person i am. I mean…if you look at the different areas of the painting…individually…they don’t really link with each other. haha

Illustration?, 2010
This was one of my latest art/doodle at the time… I got the idea and inspiration from an ink and paper piece from HM Prison Forest Bank, Assorted Personalitiess, from an exhibition in the Holden Gallery. This motivated me into giving it a go, to try produce something similar but using fineliner on paper.’

I find this hilarious, looking back at me doing this to try and impress my at the time ‘future’ tutor. I’m such a joke. I thought that this would get me somewhere…haha. Douchebag…
…but ah well, I’m a bit of a random person…i like to be imaginative and creative,  so i’ll produce anything and everything i guess.

Curvilinear, 2009/10

‘The above is a sculpture is also from 1st year of Interior Design, the brief was to combine both curvy and linear characteristics into a 3D model/sculpture. This was had made with sheets of MDF and perspex that were cut and slotted together. The simplicity and contrast between the two materials gave a strong appearance and it was straight to the point of the brief. This was a fun project, was one of my favourite that I did on the course, as I enjoy the practical sides of both Art and Design.’

This was such an enjoyable project, I could do it again…not only because it was fun but also because they chucked my final piece away! I mean…what the heck!? My fault seen as i was late in collecting it. -____- Argh!
Anyways, at least i have photos of it as proof. :) I miss design technology sometimes.

Barcelona Sketchbook, 2009

‘The images above are just a few pages from a sketchbook I had to keep on a study trip to Barcelona in November 09. We had to capture our interests of forms, shapes and buildings, anything that we liked or inspired and attracted us from the places we visited in Barcelona. It was fascinating to see Antoni Gaudi’s works for real; it was a great experience!’

Ah, Barcelona…one of the best weeks i’ve had. It was the first place abroad i’ve been without my family. It was a very eye opening experience…seeing the different culture and traditions there and exploring the food and landscape. It definitely opened my eyes more into the world….made me want to travel even more!

Motif Logo, 2009
‘In our 1st year of Interior Design we had a live project, in designing a ‘Christmas Tree’ Installation. This logo from the hotel was use as main feature in part of the design.’
This project was a funny one, i remember being terrified because we had to present our work the a panel of ‘judges’ which included our tutor and 3 other members of the hotel we were designing for…and this was one near the beginning of the course! I freaked out! Haha
Looks a bit lame tbh, but i did more than a logo designing…honestly. But i was quite happy with the logo design at the time for some reason so showed it as part of my digital portfolio , bit irrelevant. -cringe.

Lyon Airport Station, France (Research Practice Piece)
‘This blue biro sketch was for part of a research I had to do for my final project in GCSE. I looked into Santiago Calatrava’s works, I really like the way he uses shapes and forms and how got his inspiration from animals and human aspects.’
I loved Calatrava’s works, they are all so magnificent and unique! I was so into architecture back then… I used to research and look at buildings all the time. :)
